Just in time for the 'Back to School' season, Madonna and Macy's launch the Material Girl Clothing line. It's a juniors line with price points well under $100. A smart move: The Material Girl line used popular Gossip Girl TV celeb,
Taylor Momson, as the face of the brand. All are strategic moves for success especially since they are hitting their target audience, tweens and teens. But is this line a fashion fab or fail?
Well, the look books show leggings, flirty ruffle skirts, a cool studded lapel leather jacket, Skinny jeans, plaid over shirts, and the standard tanks and graphic tees. It's all very rocker chic -meets - 2010 grunge, reminiscent of Madonna's early years. All the pieces designed to be mixed & matched with each other. This brand is targeted at a specific girl, which takes away from it's appeal to all girls. And some of the styles will raise quite a few eyebrows with parents, the people who have the money. lol
For me, I would have waited a little longer to give a couple more pieces. I've seen better looks and quality with Forever 21's fall offerings with the same price point and better variety. And,
Miley Cyrus' line for Wal-Mart hits Material Girl's audience, with an even lower price point and more variety. It's not quite a fail, but it certainly can't get our FAB seal of approval.
