Fashion Forum: What to wear for Thanksgiving? ANSWERS!
Alrighty, I received a couple of questions on Facebook, Twitter, and Fab Glance about what to wear for Thanksgiving. I just couldn't leave ya'll hangin. So I'm gonna answer all your questions right now.
The thing about Thanksgiving is that it's all about how YOUR family/friends do things. Casual, dressy, basic, mid-afternoon, evening, or brunch, there are so many factors to determine what to wear for Turkey Day. Remember, be comfortable. This is not the time to break out your inner Rihanna, Beyonce, or Lady Gaga. Keep the extreme fashion for when you go hang out with your friends AFTER the Thanksgiving dinner. With that in mind - let's get to the questions:
"Can I wear jeans?" - Sophie, Nashville
Hey Sophie - Yeah! You can wear jeans. Make sure they are a dark wash with no rips, tears, or extreme fading. Add a simple blouse and a pair of pumps or flats and your look will be complete. Remember, you are gonna be eating a lot more than usual today, so your jeans should be a bit forgiving. That way your tummy can feel comfortable.
"My new boyfriend invited me to his parents house for Thanksgiving dessert. My family is usually really relaxed during Thanksgiving (we don't even sit around a table) but his family is more fancy. What should I wear?" - Amy, Antioch
Oh Amy! This is indeed a nerve-wracking twist on holiday events! Meeting your boyfriend's entire family on a holiday can be stressful, but don't worry. The good thing is it's just dessert. Usually dessert is eaten in the early evening. You don't want to look like you are trying too hard, but you don't want to look like you don't care. A good look is similar to what I told Sophie, jeans or slacks in a dark color, you can never go wrong. Or even try a sweater dress, black leggings, and flat boots for a youthful look. Stay away from SUPER SKINNY JEANS and dresses that show too much of your figure. You don't want to offend any of the older relatives.
"This year my mother told me we are 'dressing-up' for Thanksgiving dinner and we are taking family pictures too. I am a casual girl - sometimes I wear dresses in the summer. What should I wear for Thanksgiving" - Janika, Atlanta
Hey Janika! Well, I'm a casual girl who wears more dresses in the summer than in the Fall, so I can identify. But guess what, you can parlay one f those summer dresses into a fall outfit with a couple of cute accessories. You'll need a darker color cotton summer dress (black, navy, brown) a cute cardigan, opaque tights, and knee high leather or suede boots. You'll be ready for the family photo and dinner.
Well ladies, I hope this helps! If YOU have questions about your wardrobe, I can help. Email me at fabglancenashville@hotmail.com.
