OMG! Janet Jackson STAYS slaying these young girls! Janet attended the amFar's Cinema Against Aids event. Keeping it cute and casual, Janet rocked this all-white ensemble with strappy sandals. In Variety, the newlywed has been touted as being as 'earning a billion dollars' in her career lifetime. Go girl! Geesh - these pop/R&B singers need to get on this Janet Jackson work ethic.

TREND REPORT: Round Sunglasses

This week's trend is round sunglasses! I saw this coming months ago when Rihanna rocked a pair of vintage Chanel round sunglasses while performing on the Victoria's Secret fashion show. Rihanna's were embellished with pearls and extremely FAB. And soon enough, designers started showcasing various styles of styles of circle sunglasses.

Round sunglasses look good on most faces - the key is making sure your sunglasses aren't too big. Too big round sunglasses can look cartoonish and not trendy especially when you add embellishments like pearl, flowers, and other trinkets. Make sure to check out my Sunglasses in the City guide for finding the right frames for your face. Adding a pair of round frames PLUS a pair of standard sunglasses can upgrade your summer look.

For this week's outfit, I built off the round sunglasses trend for 2013 and added some other summer trends: the skater kirt, neon accents, crop tops and bold stripes. This is definitely a fun outfit for a weekend event. Try this cute look one weekend.

SHOPPING: H&M opens June 6 at Opry Mills

Back in 2010, I wrote an article called "6 Retail Stores Nashville Needs". That article was might popular because, at the time, Nashville was lacking the retail stores that people from bigger cities were used to seeing. The article included: H&M, Torrid, Aldo, Bloomingdale's, TopShop, and Evans.

Well, what a difference a couple years and a flood makes! Yes, becuase of the flood of 2010, Opry Mills Mall had to close down. Because it closed down, some stores left, leaving space for new stores to arrive. Of those new arrivals,  three of the six stores I listed in my article have found a home in Nashville: Torrid (opening fall 2013), Aldo (opened last fall), and now H&M. This location will be one of the largest in the southeast and will carry the kids line as well as the Plus Size line, H&M+.

That's right, one of the most popular retail brands for fast fashion has arrived in Nashville. I've heard they've planned an awesome GRAND OPENING celebration offering the first 300 customers an H&M t-shirt and various shopping discounts up to $300 and opening offers starting at $5 throughout the store! Support H&M's commitment to a more sustainable fashion future by bringing along a bag of unwanted garments to donate for recycling and you will also receive a voucher for 15% off an item of your choice at your next purchase.

 Here's a little info about H&M:
H&M, is a Swedish clothing company, known for its fast fashion clothing offerings for women, men, teenagers and children. H&M has around 2,000 stores in 37 different countries and employs around 76,000 people. Fast fashion is a term used to describe clothing collections which are based on the most recent fashion trends presented at Fashion Week in both the spring and the autumn of every year (source).

MUSIC: Beyonce releases 'Grown Woman' (FULL SONG)

Last month, Beyonce performed her new single, 'Grown Woman' for fans on the European leg of her world tour. This, after giving fans a snippet of the song on her Pepsi commercial, had people scouring the internet trying to find the full version of this upbeat song with tribal flair. Well, Beyonce finally released the full song and it is HOT! I'm sure her team thought it would a cute slap in the face of the media after everyone (and their grandma) said she was pregnant with baby #2. Well, she may not be pregnant, but after listening to this song, you'll relize that Beyonce will do WHATEVER she wants when she wants. Hmphf! Listen below:

EVENT: Lovenoise presents PJ MORTON, May 26

If you can't count on anything, you can count on Lovenoise to give you something to do for Memorial Day Weekend. This year is no exception! On Sunday, Lovenoise presents PJ Morton. You don't know PJ Morton? UGH! Where you been, under a rock?

PJ is an awesome R&B singer, producer, and the current keyboardist for Maroon 5. After being an independent artist for five years - PJ made waves by leaving the independent life and signing with Cash Money/Young Money. Yes, THAT Young Money (Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Drake, etc)! PJ's fans were in an uproar because they thought his sound would change and essentially 'sell-out'. And, oh yeah, his father is pastor/gospel artist Paul S. Morton, so everyone thought he would go straight into gospel music. However, PJ showed fans that he was true to his passion when he released his current project New Orleans.

Can I tell you how much I'm in love with this no project? I've known about PJ Morton for a long time - but this project really made me a full fledged fan. So, I was super excited to see him perform especially his new project. New Orleans has several awesome collaborations: Lil Wayne, Adam Levine, and Stevie Wonder. Check out the third single from his project, 'Only One'. Then purchase a ticket to Sunday's show by clicking HERE

Men's Fashion: How to wear seersucker

Source
Originally posted in 2009

My favorite suit style for men is a seersucker suit. Every man should have a seersucker suit in their wardrobe. The seersucker suit can be cut in various styles: 2 button, 3 button, double-breasted, or just a plain vest. Once you pick your cut, view the Men's Wearhouse Guide to Wearing Seersucker. They have a simple guide to accessorizing your seersucker.

So, what is seersucker?
Seersucker is made from high-quality, breathable cotton - great for the summer. Seersucker fabric is woven in such a way that it bunches in areas giving the fabric a wrinkled appearance, which means the fabric doesn't have to be ironed. In addition, the bunched fabric pulls away from the skin, helping air to circulate and bring coolness to the wearer. Fashion etiquette denotes that seersucker suits should be worn between Memorial Day and Labor Day - like the old-school thought of wearing white.

Most people refer to seersucker's classic blue and white color scheme. However fabric can come in a variety of colors such as tan, green, and red. In addition, Seersucker material can be woven into suits, pants, robes, and shorts for men, women, and children.

How do you make your seersucker style stand out from the rest? It's all in the accessories. The seersucker suit vest (pictured above) has become my instant favorite. Forget about the sport jacket, roll up your sleeves, throw on a bow-tie, and get moving. This look is a great option for Derby days, Steeplechase, or Easter brunch. You can also try the following:
  • v-neck white t-shirt
  • wing-tip shoes
  • classic button down shirt
  • knit or patterned tie
  • suede oxford shoe
